1. What is the Model Citizen Intensive?

The Model Citizen Intensive is a runway and leadership workshop created by PNG Fashion Week to train aspiring models and young leaders in confidence, presentation, communication, and professionalism.

The program focuses on developing confident, respectful, and disciplined individuals, not just runway models.

2. Who can participate?

The program is open to young people aged 13 – 28 years old who are interested in modeling, confidence building, and leadership development.

Participants may include:

  • Aspiring runway models

  • Students interested in fashion and presentation

  • Young leaders wanting to build confidence

  • Individuals interested in the creative and fashion industries

No previous modeling experience is required.

3. When are the workshop training days?

Participants will attend two training workshops followed by practical runway experience at Port Moresby Fashion Week.

Participants will then take part in practical runway experience during Port Moresby Fashion Week:

These sessions will prepare participants with runway training, posture, confidence, and presentation skills, before giving them the opportunity to apply what they have learned by walking in a live professional runway environment.

4. What will participants learn?

Participants will be trained in:

  • Professional runway walking

  • Confidence and posture

  • Public speaking and introductions

  • Personal presentation and grooming

  • Professional runway discipline

  • Teamwork and leadership skills

5. Who will teach the workshop?

The workshop will be delivered by PNG Fashion Week mentors and experienced runway trainers with experience working with designers and major fashion events.

6. What should participants wear to training?

Participants should wear:

  • Black fitted clothing

  • Heels for female participants

  • Dress shoes for male participants

  • Minimal accessories

  • Natural grooming

This allows trainers to clearly observe posture and runway movement.

7. Will participants walk in a runway show?

Yes. Participants will have the opportunity to walk in Port Moresby Fashion Week runway shows from 2–4 April 2026, gaining real experience in a professional fashion event.

8. Do participants need previous modeling experience?

No. The program welcomes both beginners and emerging models who want to develop their skills and confidence.

9. How do I register?

Participants can register by completing the official PNG Fashion Week registration form and submitting the required details before the registration deadline. Click on the following LINK for the registration forms.

10. What is the cost to participate?

The registration fee for the Model Citizen Intensive is K300 per participant.

Please note that the early registration fee of K300 is only available until 14 March 2026. After this date, the registration fee will increase to K400.

The fee covers:

  • Two professional runway and leadership training workshops

  • Opportunity to walk in Port Moresby Fashion Week (2–4 April 2026)

  • Mentorship and runway coaching

  • Program coordination and materials

  • Certificate of participation

11. What is the purpose of the Model Citizen program?

The purpose of the Model Citizen Intensive is to develop talent, confidence, discipline, and leadership in young people who aspire to grow in the fashion and creative industries.

The program is designed to go beyond modeling by helping participants build strong personal presence, communication skills, and self-belief. Through professional training and real runway experience, participants learn how to carry themselves with confidence, respect, and professionalism.

Model Citizen also aims to nurture emerging talent in Papua New Guinea, providing young people with the opportunity to explore fashion, develop their unique identity, and represent their culture with pride.

Ultimately, the program helps participants grow into confident individuals and positive role models, equipped with skills that will benefit them both on the runway and in everyday life.
